Advances in technology have led to new interdisciplinary collaborations, the fruits of which are visible in our daily lives. From smartphones and GPS, to MRI and deep space exploration, to mapping the human genome and developing targeted cancer therapies; mathematics has an increasingly impactful role in daily life. I strive to introduce students to an updated vision of mathematics; one that retains its beauty, but also presents itself as an integral and accessible part of life, with great utility. Through teaching I focus on three specific goals central to inspiring and empowering the next generation of problem solvers and well-rounded members of society:
I have taught 9 different courses ranging from online Precalculus to Applied Linear Algebra (Graduate Level), for both majors and non-majors alike. At Colorado State University, I had a unique opportunity to not merely serve as a grader for my TA, but actually run and design my own courses. This experience was thrilling, challenging, and extremely fulfilling. For a more detailed description of my approach from CSU, please see my Teaching Philosophy. Please see my pages dedicated to Teaching Experience for a detailed list of courses and syllabi, and Evaluations for student comments and end of term evaluations while at CSU.
- To establish constructive student attitudes towards mathematics,
- To provide connections to real-world applications, and
- To hone critical thinking skills.
